Using Citizen Science Tools as a Family-Friendly Way to Explore God's Gift of Creation

Our speakers from National Geographic Society and Mountain to Sea Education will share their joy of connecting people to nature and discuss ways students, families, and their communities can see which plants and animals share our environment. Two apps that help young (and old) explorers identify species in their own backyards will be demonstrated. The webinar will prepare our families to participate as Citizen Scientists in the upcoming DC City Nature Challenge April 29 to May 2.

Reducing Energy Waste: The Quickest, Cheapest, and
Most Effective Way to Care for Creation

In Laudato Si’, Pope Francis lamented the waste of resources that pollutes our planetary home and diminishes both human and other species’ quality of life. Energy waste is a direct and significant contributor to climate change. Learn some of the practical and effective things you can do to minimize your own and your parish’s energy footprint and corresponding energy expenses.

Living in Harmony with Creation: A Parish Case Study
June 15 at 7 pm hosted by Our Lady Queen of Peace in Arlington
Pope Francis' care for creation message has taken root at Our Lady Queen of Peace parish. The seeds of action we planted are bearing fruit, the campus is greener and more sustainable. Join us to learn details of how the community was energized, what actions were taken from banning plastic water bottles to installing solar panels. Lessons learned and how minds and hearts were changed. Practical tips will be offered for use in other parishes and homes. See here for the resources.
